About Us

Team 31730 was founded right here in the Newark and Wilmington, Delaware area by a group of students and mentors who believed that competitive robotics should be accessible to any kid who wants to try.

We build our robots from scratch each season, write all our own code, and figure things out together — sometimes smoothly, sometimes through a lot of trial and error. Either way, we learn something.

But who is Jeff?

Jeff is a Ragdoll cat, and the official mascot — and spiritual backbone — of Team 31730. He’s calm, he’s fluffy, and he has absolutely no idea what a robot is. What he does know is how to make a room feel a little warmer, which is exactly the energy we try to bring to everything we do.

We named ourselves All About Jeff because great teams aren’t just about the work — they’re about the people (and cats) that make showing up every day worth it.

What is FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)?

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics competition program for students in grades 7–12. Each season, teams of up to 15 students design, build, and program a robot to compete in a brand-new game challenge — all within a strict set of rules and a limited budget.

But FTC is about much more than robots. It’s about teamwork, creative problem-solving, and learning to think like engineers. Teams also earn awards for community outreach, gracious professionalism, and project presentations — because FIRST believes the way you play the game matters just as much as winning it.

Team 31730 competes in the Delaware region. We design, build, and program our robot from scratch every season — and we do it together.
